A1 sauce is a steak sauce. If you cannot find it, you can use another steak sauce. Many boneless chicken recipes use sweet ingredients because chicken has a soft enough flavor to suit many different sauces, both sweet and savory. Although a lot of authentic Chinese and Hawaiian chicken recipes are savory rather than sweet, using sugar or another sweetener augments the flavor of the chicken dish and makes it even more delicious. You do not need to make it too sweet of course but a little sweetness makes it really nice.
